WE'RE GONNA HAVE A BABY!!!!

We went to the doctor today and got to hear a little heart beat...It was the best sound I have ever heard!

So come June 8th (or somewhere around that date) the Bishop family will be bigger.

We will do a much better job keeping the blog updated with our now changing life.

Police Academy Week 1

So week 1 is in the books. I don't plan on giving you an update each week, I just wanted to let you know I started.

So far things have gone pretty well. I'm a bit sore from our workouts. I can honestly say that I have not been overwhelmed by the workouts, but at the same time they have made me sweat. This is definitely more exercise than I have gotten in quite a long time. Hopefully by the end of all this I will be able to get rid of this little belly that I have developed in the last 13 months. You were right dad... all I had to do to gain weight was get married. :-P

So far we haven't done a whole lot. However, I have learned how to place handcuffs on a person as well as inflict a little bit of pain to get someone to comply.

We also learned the following from Utah Criminal and Traffic Code:

77-7-7. Force in making arrest.
If a person is being arrested and flees or forcibly resists after being informed of the intention to make the arrest, the person arresting may use reasonable force to effect the arrest. Deadly force may be used only as provided in Section 76-2-404.

Good stuff.

Life gets crazy...

Hey everyone!!! So we are really bad at keeping this whole blog thing up to date..It is not due to a lack of writing material, it is mainly due to a lack of time to write.

So lets catch up.

Last time on T&C 5:16...

Tish and Chris were off to San Diego to visit the fam and go to Disneyland.

Well we went to San Diego and spent time with the fam. We flew in on a Wednesday and my parents picked us up from the airport and then went back to the house and had lunch. After lunch we decided that we needed to let sand get in between our toes so we headed down to the beach for a bit.

That evening we went to my sister Lauren's house to have dinner and see the nieces and nephew. Keith (my bff) and Rachael (his wife) and their little boy Isaiah joined us. It was great to see everyone and it had been far too long since we saw them last. That's is the biggest thing I dislike about living so far from them.

So yeah, dinner and visiting was great. We went back to my parent's house to get some rest in preparation for Disneyland!


So Thursday we got up and headed to the Magic Kingdom for a day of fun!

Friday we ran some errands and then everyone came down to my parents and then we went to Old Town for some good Southern California Mexican food. After dinner we went to the newly remodeled Mormon Battalion Visitors Center. That was fun.

Saturday Tish's friend Katie and her husband, Ryan, came down and we went to the San Diego temple and then to the beach.

That evening we had a barbecue with everyone and then played some games...lots of fun.

Sunday we went to church and then had family pictures.


Monday we went back to the Magic Kingdom to do a half day at California Adventure, then headed back to pack and then head to the airport.

It was a quick trip and extremely busy, but so much fun.

So while we were in CA I got a text from my friend Jared asking for my address...that was strange, but not uncalled for.

A couple days later I got a phone call asking what ward we were in and our bishop's name. That was a bit intriguing and got me to thinking. But then it all made sense that weekend when we got a phone call from the stake presidency of the stake I used to be in...now I know what was coming. So the next week we went and had an interview and were called to be in a bishopric. We were called into the ward that I was in before we got married. That was exciting.

Um, what else....I umpired high school baseball this season and went to a basketball referee camp.

Tish changed her major from theater to and integrated studies major of psychology and theater back in December and she will be graduating next April.

I was officially accepted into the police academy at UVU and I will start that in just over a week.

Tish let my buy my gun! So I bought a Sig Sauer p250.



Tish went home to Thatcher a few weeks ago for Mother's day and to see the new THE Gila Valley Temple.



We celebrated our first anniversary 2 weeks ago. We went up to Salt Lake City and went to dinner at Tucanos at the Gateway Center. I hope you have all been to Tucanos or Rodizio grill. Brazilian barbecue is amazing but a little pricey, so we only go a few times a year. After dinner we waddled around the Gateway miserably full and then went to the planetarium to see this laser light show to U2...it was ... um...interesting. We both agreed that it would have been more enjoyable if we had been smoking marijuana, but since we don't we felt it was a waste of the $8. So, then we went back to the hotel and went swimming. (don't worry we waited 30 minutes after we ate) The next morning we hopped on the Trax and went to Temple Square for Music and the Spoken Word. It was a fun little trip even though it was just a 45 minute drive to SLC.





Wow has time flown by, but I think we will both agree that it has been a fantastic first year and we are looking forward to all the blessings that will be coming in the next year or so. (you may interpret that anyway you would like, but Tish is NOT pregnant...currently)



She also wanted to let you know that she is taking a class about barbed wire...yes, you read that right, BARBED WIRE. She is not exactly fond of the class.



Tish started working at the Provo Temple on Saturday mornings.



Also I got a promotion a couple months ago. I am now part of the management team as the Lead Teller/Ops Supervisor.



So yeah lots of stuff has gone on the last few months.



So let me share with you a fun little experience that I had today. This morning when I woke up my Blackberry was blinking letting me know that I had a new email... no big deal. It happens every morning, but this message was different. Let me share it with you as well as the exchange that happened after:

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I came down here to United
Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately i was mugged at the park
of the hotel where i stayed,all cash,credit card and cell were stolen
off me but luckily for me i still have my passports with me.

I've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping
issues at all and my flight leaves in less than 3hrs from now but am
having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't
let me leave until i settle the bills,

I'm freaked out at the moment.

Now that's interesting, the thing is the person who allegedly sent it was a TA from one of my classes like 2 years ago.

Now let me tell you, I knew what was going on right from the get go. I was not born yesterday

My response:

Oh my gosh how can I help?

Her:

Glad you are willing to help,I have nothing left on me right now and i am lucky to have my life and passports with me it would have been worst if they had made away with my passports. Well all i need now is just $1180” you can have it wired to my name via Western Union i'll have to show my passport as ID to pick it up here and i promise to pay you back as soon i get back home. Here's my info below...

Me:

Perfect, now if you will just confirm for me how we know each other I would gladly do that. (I just want to make sure this isn't one of those crazy Internet scams.)

I was thinking that they would cut there losses there and move on...but no:

Chris, are you kidding me? you and i know that i can't receive the money without my ID... and you also know that i don't like question am sorry to say this. am freaking out at the moment.

Hmmm, not too sure they understood my English:

Well I'm just trying to be safe, so if you could please just tell me how we know each other I will be off to the WU outlet to wire you your money.

Them:

OK i understand you better, Bishop you stay in my home.

Yeah they understand better:
I was now tired of this foolishness and gave my final response:

Nope. Sorry. You should maybe walk down to the police station and turn yourself in for conspiracy to commit fraud. I have more important things to do with my time such as help the deposed king of Nigeria get his money out of his country.

Thanks for playing though. And since you have a masters in English I would hope that you would know English a little bit better.

I just hope it wasn't really her :-P

Anyway, we hope you are all doing fantastic and we will really try to be a little more consistent.

Spring Break Here We Come!!!

So Tish has Spring Break this week and ...

WE'RE GOING TO

I don't know about Tish, but I am excited. I'm not sure why. Having grown up in Orange county I've been to Disneyland in the triple digits, but it has been a few years. Tish allegedly has been to Disneyland but she has no recollection of it. So she says she's never been.

I think I am more excited for Tish to go. I just can't wait to see her face as she gets off of Space Mountain for the first time and then as she drops off of the huge water fall on Splash Mountain.

Anyway it's going to be great.

I'm also extremely excited to see my family. We haven't seen my parents since October and I haven't seen my now 1 year old niece and nephew since the wedding. :-(

So yeah, it's gonna be a great week! We'll be sure to post some pics when we get back.

We're having a ...!

bad week. :-P





So I guess it's been a while since we have posted anything on here.





I guess we're not really having a bad week, in fact I would say we're having a fairly good week.





The only bad thing is that ... well let's start at the beginning.


On Thursday morning I was walking out to my truck and looked at our bikes locked securely to the bike rack, as I do everyday. My bike, check. Tish's bike...wait a second where are the wheels!?! Someone stole Tish's wheels! I went back to our apartment to give Tish the bad news. She was slightly (read extremely) irritated about it. I guess the good thing is that it was just the wheels and not the bike itself. Lame right? Who steals bike wheels?


So I go to Sports Authority on my lunch to get some cable locks to secure the wheels. After work I went to the police station to file a report. It turns out that several bikes had been stolen from our complex IN THE MIDDLE OF PROVO, UTAH. I don't really expect the police report to come of anything but it also gave me an opportunity to ask some questions, but more on that later.


So I secured my wheels with the cable lock and felt better about things...that is until I got home from work tonight to find that my brand new cable lock was laying next to my bike with a nice big cut through it. Obviously they felt that they didn't do a good enough job Wednesday night and had to come back and finish the job. Luckily I still had my wheels but more frustration and irritation. I also noticed that there were even more bikes missing. So now I have no idea what to do. I took the lock back to Sport Authority to exchange it. The girl at the cash register was really friendly and wanted to be helpful, but then the grumpy manager comes out and says, "Sorry we really can't do anything because the product is not defective." I took exception with the defective part of his statement and said that the product was completely defective. He responded by telling me that someone just out tooled the cable. I shook my head and left.





So yeah...





So, lets play catch-up.





Here's us in a nutshell:


In August we took a trip to NYC and had a great time.


We came back and Tish started classes at UVU in their theater program.


I still work for Chase and started refereeing high school basketball and will start umpiring hs baseball next month. It's been a lot of fun and brings in a couple extra bucks.


So Tish decided that she really didn't have a future in theater so she changed her major to psychology with a theater minor.





She's still working for BRG but got moved to the night shift and is doing quality control.





Um what else, we went to Thatcher in the middle of December for a wedding/early Christmas with her mom.





We spent Christmas here in Provo. My parents got us a Wii and we got ourselves Rock Band.





In March we will be going to CA to visit my family and to take Tish to Disneyland for the second time, but the first time she will be able to remember.





So remember the part earlier when I was at the police station and I said it gave me a chance to ask some questions? Well the reason is that I have finally decided what I want to do when I grow up. I want to go into law enforcement. So in June I will start the police academy at UVU and hopefully that will lead me to becoming a cop.





So yeah that's us. Sorry we have not been so great about keeping our blog current. All I can say is that married life is busy. But we love it and we are so happy together.





(ok side thought, I'm watching NCIS on USA right now and there is a commercial for Cancer Centers of America on. The way the people describe how their doctors first tell them they have cancer is so unbelievable. the end)





Also I hope I did not lead anyone to believe that we are having a baby by the title of this post. :-)
